Practices are held twice a week out of the Austin Yacht Club on Lake Travis, where our 18 boat fleet is housed.
If you are registering for classes soon, remember that our practices are held on TUESDAY and THURSDAY afternoons at 2:00 PM.
Every Monday night we hold an evening lesson on campus taught by the residing Captain. Virtually every weekend offers the opportunity of traveling to a Regatta within, and occasionally outside of, our district.
Some of our travel destinations this past Spring alone include
Dallas, Galveston and College Station TX
New Orleans, LA
Charleston, SC
Madison, WI
Seattle, WA
Stillwater, OK
Major Team accomplishments include, but are not limited to, consistently placing in the upper half of the fleet in all conference regattas,
placing 3rd in Coed SEISA Dinghy Championships held here in Austin, placing 2nd in Women's SEISA Dinghy Championships, sending a team of five to ICSA Coed National Semifinals in Washington and a team of five to ICSA Women's Nationals in Wisconsin.
In all instances, over half of the sailors had never sailed prior to college.
Many of our top sailors began with no experience. With dedication and self-motivation, you will become a well-equipped and competent collegiate sailor.
Sailing is fun, too, otherwise we wouldn't do it. Texas Sailing has social outlets within our own team and within the conference at large. Our teammates are some of our best friends, with the basis of amazing shared memories and experiences that stretch from coast to coast.
