This weekend was a great regatta in College Station. We sailed almost everyone we took, and handled the heavy wind conditions well. Out of eight races, Scott proctor skippered an amazing six 1st place finishes. At the end of the day, Texas coeds finished 1st and women's finished third.
Regatta this morning was called off because of winds gusting over 30 knots and temperatures in the 30s. Hopefully next week in College Station turns out better. Thanks everyone who came out on Wednesday and supported us at Drungo Ice House, we made about $50.
Today from 5-8 is the fundraiser at Drungo. We need everyone to come out and help support the team. Bring some friends, grab some dinner, tell them you're with us, and find us on the patio! Happy hour is 4-7, and trivia night starts at 8.
This weekend is the SMU regatta in Dallas, wish our small crew we're sending luck! It looks like it might be a little chilly in the 60s. Also, anyone that ones to help us practice, we have started team racing and can use all the boats we can get!

We had a good one day regatta out of Southern Yacht Club with winds 7-11 knots from the south. Our co-ed team finished fourth and women's team finished fifth. Good job Chase for skippering a bullet and wrapping up A fleet in 2nd, losing out only to Florida.
Happy Mardi Gras
We had suprisingly great wind this weekend sailing on Lake Bryan. All 11 people we took this weekend got to sail, and we placed 2nd of the 8 teams. A northern blew in and the wind was between 5-9 knots. We ended the day with a bang, cancelling the last set because of lightning and thunder. Congrats to Chase and Cait for skippering a couple bullets. This coming weekend we will be in New Orleans for a regatta.
The wind was 12-18 knots. We had 15 teams there from 12 schools. We got off 14 races between 10 am and 5pm. Official results will be posted soon. Thanks everybody who came out and sailed, supported, and helped our regatta become the success it was. A big thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor who came out as a spectator boat, but turned into a great recovery boat. Steve Gay was a huge asset to the regatta helping with repairs before hand and acting as our PRO. At the meeting Sunday it was decided that UT would host SEISA Dinghy Champs on April 4. We also got our check from our Spicy Pickle fundraiser and we made $84.21!!!!! We will be planning another event at undecided location, on the last Wednesday of February.
We've been back in school just over a week, but we've definitely been keeping busy. Last week we went out to AYC and did some boat cleaning and scrubbed everything down in the nice warm weather. This Tuesday we decided not to brave the rain and cold, but opted for redoing the A-frame sign that sits on campus. (click "read more" to hear about this week...)
Come one, come all, and bring your everyone you know! From 6-9 on Wednesday, January 29 the Spicy Pickle in west campus will donate 10% of all purchases to the UT Sailing. The team will be there in full force, so come hangout and have dinner with us. It will be a great time. Any questions, contact Kelly at kellytroy@me.com or (210) 410-2854.
